3 | Obituary Donna Jean (Brohman) Gould Suits passed away peacefully Wednesday April 15, 2020, 6 days after her husband of 34 years, William (Bill) H. Suits, both having succumbed to a coronavirus infection. Donna was born September 23, 1941 in Detroit Michigan to Andy and Ida Brohman. She grew up in Detroit with her older sister Elda (Brohman) Helm O'Brien, who still lives in Michigan. Donna attended Pershing High School (Class of 1959) where, on the first day of school, she became lockermates and then lifelong friends with Joan (Bennett) Uhrick, who she often called her "second sister". Donna married Edmund Price Gould on August 19, 1961. They moved to Freehold, NJ and raised 3 children, Wendy (Gould) Biggs (married to Ray), Paul Gould (married to Kathy Wurzbach Gould) and Brian Gould (married to Claire Hoeschler Gould). Donna filled the home with love, talk and music, playing guitar, leading the junior choir at Hope Lutheran Church, and warmly welcoming anyone the children brought home. The family moved to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1979. Donna and Ed separated in 1983 and divorced. Donna married her second husband Bill Suits in July 1985 and moved to Bedminster, NJ to a condominium in Knollcrest. Donna welcomed Bill's children as her own: Tim Suits (married to Beverly Fontanares Suits) and Joanna (Suits) Hubenthal (married to Carl) . For years Donna loved working as a realtor, warmly meeting people and welcoming them into their new homes. Donna was able to travel on realtor trips and she loved to share stories with her family of the memories of her overseas travels for years. She and Bill loved music, going to concerts and singing in their church choir wherever they lived. Donna had a deep love for all her grandchildren: Alicia and Daniel Biggs, Carley and Jamison Gould, Laura Gould and Zachary Gould, Ashley, Lilith and Connor Hubenthal, Stephanie Fontanares Smith and Sierra Amelia Fontanares Suits. She always loved reading with the children. Seeing her grandchildren and their accomplishments brought great joy to Donna. With her debilitating arthritis worsening, Donna and Bill moved to Meadow Lakes senior community in East Windsor, NJ in 2014. When her out-of-town family visited, Donna loved showing off the beautiful gardens of Meadow Lakes. With Paul's family nearby, she was able to attend her grandchildren Carley's and Jamison's sporting and musical events. Donna enjoyed attending family holiday events at Paul and Kathy Gould's house with her family and friends - the more people to talk to, the merrier! Despite Bill having been a University of Wisconsin football player and her children and grandchildren being avid football fans, Donna never quite seemed to figure out the game of football! She'd much rather read People magazine and drink her can of Diet Pepsi - through a straw. Bill lovingly cared for Donna as her health declined over the last few years. Their love for each other was strong and neither would have been happy alone on this earth. Knowing their faith in the Lord, they now rest together in the Lord's house: My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 (NIV) Donna loved being at Meadow Lakes and the staff clearly cared for her. The family appreciates the Meadow Lakes nursing and staff being with Donna for us in her final days and facilitating a video call with her children and grandchildren on Easter weekend. Donations in Donna's memory can be made at https://springpointsl.org/foundation/heroes/ to honor the Meadow Lakes personnel who cared for Donna and Bill Suits during this coronavirus pandemic. A celebration of life will be held at Princeton United Methodist Church once travel restrictions are lifted and it is safe for family and friends to gather. It will be a joint celebration to honor both Donna and Bill for their love, lives and faith. Please provide your email address in the "SUBSCRIBE to UPDATES" button on the bottom right of this page so that we may contact you once the date and details are finalized. | Gould, Donna J. (I41440)

4 | Obituary William (Bill) Howard Suits passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020, just 6 days before his wife of 34 years, Donna Jean (Brohman) Gould Suits, both having succumbed quickly to a coronavirus infection. They died peacefully, cared for by the nurses at the Meadow Lakes Community in East Windsor, NJ where they had joyfully resided since 2014. Bill was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on March 3, 1940 to George and Ethelyn (Olson) Suits. He was a standout guard for his high school, playing for the Waupaca Comet team that captured the Central Wisconsin 1957 crown. Bill graduated from Waupaca High School in 1958 and proudly attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison on a football scholarship from 1958-1963. He spent six weeks the summer between his freshman and sophomore year in Quanico, Virginia working toward a marine corps reserve officers' commission as a lance corporal. During his college years, Bill played left guard for his beloved Wisconsin Badgers. In 1960 during his sophomore year, the team went to the Rose Bowl giving Bill memories to last a lifetime. Wisconsin was favored by 6 1/2 points but was down 42-14 heading into the fourth quarter. The Badgers played furiously, scoring 23 points, only to lose to Washington 42-37. This was the first bowl game in college football history to pair the two top ranked teams in the nation, and appears frequently on lists of the "greatest bowl games of all times." Always athletic, Bill also played for the Rugby club from 1962-1965 and was the president in 1964. Bill remained an avid Wisconsin sports fan and could be found most Saturdays throughout the fall faithfully wearing red cheering with fellow Wisconsin alumni in Northern New Jersey. Bill graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1963 with a degree in chemistry and remained on campus, managing the medical science lab from 1962-1963 and the bio-physics lab from 1963-1965. These positions helped fuel his lifelong passion for chemistry. After Bill left the lab, he moved to Chicago and became a product specialist for Packard Instrument Company. He married Geraldine (Jerry) Sloan in 1969 and they had two children, Tim Suits and Joanna (Suits) Hubenthal. The family moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1974 where Bill began his sales career with Varian Medical Systems. In 1976, Bill was promoted to a Chromatography Specialist and the family moved to Short Hills, New Jersey. Bill and Jerry divorced in 1982. Bill married Donna Suits in July 1985. They began their marriage living in the Knollcrest community in Bedminster, NJ. Bill loved Donna's three children as his own, Wendy (Gould) Biggs (married to Ray), Paul Gould (married to Kathy Wurzbach Gould) and Brian Gould (married to Claire Hoeschler Gould). In 2014 Bill and Donna moved to Meadow Lakes where he became an active member of the community, enjoying the beautiful scenery, the wonderful residents and staff, and his water aerobics classes. Bill was also an active participant in many of the resident run productions in the community. Bill and Donna were most recently members of the Princeton United Methodist Church where he was commissioned as a Stephen Minister last fall and where he was an active participant in the choir. His passion for singing also led him to frequently participate in the annual Ocean Grove Choir Festival. Bill was active in chemistry until his death and had recently begun presenting Science Cafes to educate fellow seniors. He was a member of both the National and the North Jersey American Chemical Societies and proudly served in many leadership positions including as chair of the NJACS in 2001. He was passionate about counseling peers on career and advancement opportunities and also about mentoring the next generation of chemists through his work with Project SEED which helps disadvantaged High School students garner research experience with lab professionals. Bill also worked on the board for AIDSfreeAFRICA to help pharmaceutical companies in Cameroon to produce and distribute generic drugs and AIDS medicine. In recognition of his ongoing exemplary volunteer service the NJACS has officially renamed their annual volunteer and pro bono service award in his honor. Bill is survived by his five children and their spouses and his eleven grandchildren Stephanie Smith and Sierra Suits, Ashley, Lilith and Connor Hubenthal, Alicia and Daniel Biggs, Carley and Jamison Gould, Laura and Zachary Gould, his sister Valerie Nygaard of Wisconsin Rapids, two aunts Dona Gjertson and Lavonne Waller as well as niece Elizabeth Nygaard (Mike Sims) and nephew, Peter Nygaard (Sara). Donations in Bill's memory can be made to the NJACS which will work to create a scholarship for chemistry bound high school students in his name. https://www.njacs.org/ Please designate for Bill Suits scholarship in the notes field. A celebration of life will be held at Princeton United Methodist Church once travel restrictions are lifted and it is safe for family and friends to gather. 13 | Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Roy Naevestad, went home to be with his Lord Jesus. He was a man who loved the Lord with all of his heart, and serving Him was his greatest reward. Roy was the son of Norwegian immigrants, Arne and Tergit (Olsen) Naevestad. Family hardships in the 30s led the family to live for a time with Uncle Ole and Tante Olava as well as Mr. Huseland, the baker. From him, Roy learned how to bake and decorate beautiful cakes. He enjoyed blessing others with cakes he had created well into his 80s. Roy studied electrical engineering at McKee High School in Staten Island. One of his teachers, Mr. Bill Olsen, invited him to his Sunday school class at the Bethelship Norwegian Methodist Church. It was at Bethelship that he grew in his faith, made lifelong friends, and met his wife Evelyn Thompson. Prior to his High School graduation ceremony Roy enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the crew of the USS Earle in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, Roy enrolled at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute where he studied electrical engineering. He began his career at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill – moved onto Allied Chemical, Wilputte and then Krupp. Roy worked in the steel industry and holds several patents for the production of coke. While working for Krupp he made frequent flights to Germany, and made a point to try a new pastry each time. Although his career was a busy one, Roy always met the Lord in the morning to read the Word and to pray. Roy and Evelyn prayed together every night, kneeling together at the bedside until Evelyn could no longer get up from the floor. We depended on those prayers. Roy and Evelyn were married in June of 1950 at Bethelship by Evelyn's brother Rev. Garfield Thompson. It was Garfield's first wedding, and they loved to joke that "maybe he didn't do it right." They moved to Fanwood, New Jersey in 1952, where they were members of the Cranford Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Roy served on the board for years and was engaged in many ministries of the church. Roy loved to take the family camping in the Trim-line camper. Everyone was given a job so that all would learn to work together. Many trips were made to Canada, the Civil War battlegrounds, Cape Cod, the Jersey shore and Florida. He also loved to grill steak on the brick fire place that he made in the 50s. We ate on the picnic table which he made, that sat on the patio he had poured. He was a man who could do many things well. After retirement, Roy and Evelyn moved to their home in Speculator, NY where they had numerous friends and made many new ones. They had enjoyed and supported the ministry of Camp-of-the Woods since they had been married. They wanted to continue to enjoy and support that ministry as well as to provide a place for their family to enjoy it as well in future years. They worshipped at the Speculator United Methodist and the North Country Bible Churches and were involved as much as they were able. Roy also sang with the Adirondack Consortium and had cameo roles in several musicals, one in which he had to learn how to dance. In 2015, Roy and Evelyn, now needing additional care, moved to Wisconsin. Evelyn passed away shortly thereafter, but not before they had celebrated, according to Roy," 65 years of Wedded Blitz." Roy became a regular worshiper at St. Paul's Church in Davis, Illinois where his son Scott is the Pastor. The people of St. Paul welcomed Roy with opened arms and blessed him in these later years with cards, visits, and love. In addition to his wife Evelyn, Roy was predeceased by his brother Stanley. Roy's children, Carol Billings, (David), Glenn, (Jinny), and Scott, (Sue) are left to cherish his memory and the godly heritage that they have received. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Kristin VanderPyl, Bjorn, Leif and Hans Billings, and Kyle and Todd Naevestad. He leaves behind his 5 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Emelia and Clara VanderPyl, and Noah and Logan Billings. A celebration of Roy's life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at 11 a.m. at North Country Bible Fellowship (NCBF), Speculator, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to Gospel Volunteers or NCBF, both of Speculator, NY | Naevestad, Roy (I38209)
